APLOMB PROJECT
Access to menstural health and hygenic supplies combined together
The Aplomb Project was launched to address one of the most overlooked barriers in girls’ education — menstrual health stigma and lack of access to hygienic supplies.
Recognizing that menstrual taboos often contribute to absenteeism, embarrassment, and reduced self-confidence, Aplomb was designed as a structured gender-sensitivity and dignity initiative.

Aplomb Project
The Aplomb Project is Moralkart Foundation’s gender equity initiative focused on menstrual dignity, awareness, and normalization among adolescents from underserved communities.
Launched in 2024, Aplomb was designed to address a silent but powerful barrier in girls’ education — stigma, misinformation, and lack of access to menstrual hygiene resources.
We believe that no girl should miss school, feel ashamed, or lose confidence because of a natural biological process.
THE WHY
In many vulnerable communities, menstruation remains surrounded by silence, myths, and social discomfort. This often leads to:
- Reduced school attendance
- Emotional distress
- Social exclusion
- Low confidence among adolescent girls
Without structured awareness and access to hygiene supplies, menstruation becomes a barrier to education.
Aplomb was created to remove that barrier.
APPROACH
The Aplomb Project was implemented among adolescent students enrolled in the Ray Project.
We provided menstrual hygiene products to adolescent girls for a structured 4-month period, ensuring continuity and comfort during school and center attendance.
Interactive sessions were conducted to educate girls on:
- Menstrual health and hygiene
- Physical and emotional changes during adolescence
- Breaking myths and misinformation
- Building body confidence
iINCLUSIVE
One of the most important components of Aplomb is inclusion.
Male students were included in sensitization sessions to:
- Normalize conversations around menstruation
- Prevent teasing and stigma
- Promote empathy and respect
- Build gender-sensitive peer environments
We believe gender equality cannot be achieved in isolation — it must be built collectively.
iMPACT
- Improved attendance and comfort during menstrual cycles
- Increased confidence among adolescent girls
- Reduction in stigma within peer groups
- Greater awareness among boys about menstrual health
- Strengthened culture of dignity and inclusion
Aplomb does not only distribute supplies — it builds awareness, empathy, and long-term cultural change.

A story of dignity
When Meena (name changed) first attended the session, she admitted she was afraid to talk about menstruation — even with her closest friends.
After participating in Aplomb workshops and receiving proper hygiene support, she expressed something simple but powerful:
“Now I don’t feel embarrassed. It’s normal. And boys also understand.”
That shift — from silence to confidence — is the true impact of Aplomb.
Looking Ahead
The Aplomb Project aligns with Schedule VII of the Companies Act, 2013, particularly under:
- Promoting gender equality
- Empowering women and girls
- Preventive healthcare and sanitation
The project is structured for measurable implementation and scalable partnerships.
Aplomb is designed as a scalable gender dignity model that can expand across:
- Community centers
- Government schools
- Rural education ecosystems
We envision long-term integration of menstrual awareness into adolescent development programs.
