Our Story

2017

Moralkart Foundation was born in 2017 from a moment of reflection, responsibility, and deep connection to community.

Our founder was actively working on the ground with a well-established non-governmental organization, supporting children from a vulnerable community through education.

Found Gap

As the past organization decided to shift its focus toward other initiatives, a critical gap emerged—one that risked leaving the children without consistent academic support.

 Idea

Recognizing this need, she reconnected with her former students from the community and shared a simple yet powerful idea: to continue providing quality, meaningful education—without interruption.

Initiative

What began as conversations rooted in trust and shared belief soon evolved into a dedicated, community-led education initiative.

Foundation

This moment marked the foundation of what would later become Moralkart Foundation—built on continuity, compassion, and the belief that access to education should never depend on circumstance or institutional transitions.

2018-2020

Building the Foundation

The years between 2018 and 2020 marked the formative phase of Moralkart Foundation—defined by resilience, learning, and collective effort.

Team

During this period, a growing group of passionate volunteers joined the founder to strengthen the cause. With limited resources but deep commitment, the team personally conducted weekend learning sessions, teaching children for three hours each day. Young adults from within the community played a crucial role by helping mobilize children and families, ensuring regular participation in learning activities.

Set up Challenges

These early years were not without challenges. With no major funding, securing physical learning spaces was difficult. Equally important was the task of building trust with parents, as the initiative was new and unfamiliar, and initially perceived as an external or “alien” organization within the community. Despite these constraints, the movement grew stronger.

Scale Up

By this stage, 18 volunteers  were contributing in diverse ways—organizing sessions, teaching, coordinating logistics, and supporting community engagement. As the need for consistency and scale became evident, the team consulted with experienced NGOs and education practitioners. This learning phase led to a pivotal decision: to transition from weekend volunteer-led sessions to a structured weekday learning model, supported by trained teachers.

Formal Estabilishement

To enable this shift and increase long-term impact, Moralkart Foundation was formally established as a registered non-governmental organization in India, with the initiative beginning to receive structured funding and operational support.

This phase laid the groundwork for sustainability—transforming a grassroots effort into a mission-driven organization committed to educational equity and community-led development.

2020-2022

Resilience Through Uncertainty

Overcoming challenges

As the COVID-19 pandemic brought everyday life to a standstill, children from the vulnerable communities we serve were among the hardest hit, facing limited access to digital infrastructure, safe learning spaces, and educational continuity.

Despite severe funding constraints, Moralkart Foundation remained committed to its people. We continued to support our educators and staff to the best of our ability, while actively collaborating with other non-profit organizations to share essential resources and commodities with the communities we served.

Redifining Learning

Our teachers went above and beyond, redesigning lesson plans and investing extraordinary effort to keep students engaged, motivated, and learning under unprecedented circumstances.

During this period, we also launched a monthly workbook initiative, creating age-appropriate workbooks filled with interactive, fun, and concept-based activities. These were printed and distributed within the community, ensuring continuity of learning while preventing screen fatigue.

Emerging from this challenging phase stronger and more focused, Moralkart Foundation marked a historic milestone in  2022—establishing two physical learning centers , signaling not just recovery, but sustained growth and renewed impact.

2023-Present

Moving ahead

Strong Growth

From 2023 onward, Moralkart Foundation stepped into a new chapter of strength and sustainability. Today, we are reaching nearly 100 children across two communities in Pune, supported by a committed team of five trained teachers who deliver structured, level-based education every weekday. Each child now receives over 500 additional hours of guided learning annually—focused not on rote memorization, but on conceptual clarity, confidence-building, and real understanding. With two fully functioning learning centers, improved curriculum systems, and regular assessments, we have strengthened our mission

Holistic impact

As our classrooms grew stronger, so did our vision.

We recognized that access to quality education must be supported by dignity, opportunity, and equal access to resources. This led to the expansion of complementary initiatives

Through these initiatives, Moralkart Foundation continues to address not just academic gaps, but also gender inequality, financial exclusion, and social barriers that limit children’s potential.

We are supporting 100 children directly now!

Help us reach more kids.
